Iran's book club: Western titles prove popular despite political woes
Tensions between the US and Iran do not appear to be easing.
But that does not mean Iranians are uninterested in reading about the lives of US presidents and first ladies.
Some bookshops are full of Western titles which are proving surprisingly popular.
Iran is not a member of the universal copyright convention, so the books are being translated into Farsi and published without the author's consent.

Iran's Revolutions: Crash Course World History 226
In which John Green teaches you about Iran's Revolutions. Yes, revolutions plural. What was the the1979 Iranian Revolution about? It turns out that Iran has a pretty long history of unrest in order to put power in the hands of the people, and the most recent revolution in 1979 was, at least at first, not necessarily about creating an Islamic state. It certainly turned out to be about that, but it was initially just about people who wanted to get rid of an oppressive regime. Listen up as John teaches you about Iran's long history of revolution.

February 11 marks the anniversary of the overthrow of the Shah in Iran in 1979, the end of a dynasty that had lasted some 2,500 years. The final months of his rule and the early years of the Islamic Republic of Iran were a moment of uncertainty and violence but also one during which writing and photography saw a unique level of freedom. FRANCE 24 speaks to Iranian artist and author Hannah Darabi, who has spent years collecting books that were published during that period.

Woven together in the Bible are prophecies and accounts of Persian kings, epic battles, and royal decrees that changed the world. And surprisingly to many, the Bible speaks of Persia as being chosen and favored for God's grand purposes.
In 'Iran in the Bible,' this remarkable story is told using ancient Persian texts, archaeological discoveries, and insights from scholars. What's revealed is that both Persia and the Jewish people played a strategic role in the fulfillment of God's promise to Abraham--the promise that through him God would bless the world.
Showing how God is directly involved in history, 'Iran in the Bible' offers comfort to those living in a world of uncertainty.
